Did You Know?…

Wheat gluten is a wonderful thing if your body can take it. It is made up of proteins and gives bread and other baked goods their texture. It also gives bread dough it’s strength and structure.

Intolerance of wheat gluten usually falls into three categories: those who have a wheat allergy, those who are gluten intolerant and those who have celiac disease.

All have symptoms and causes that are just a bit different from each other.

People who need gluten free foods have a difficult time finding baked goods to eat, as most of our baked goods are made using wheat flour. Wheat flour happens to be the nicest flour for baking, so finding breads, muffins and cakes that actually taste good is a real problem too.

Even if you are not eating a lot of bread type foods in your diet, we all crave something “bready” once in a while. The wonderful gluten free recipes on this site should help you in that direction. They are all delicious.

In addition to recipes for breads, muffins, pizza crust, waffles and cakes, I have also included in this section links to our gluten free recipes for appetizers, soups, salads, meats and seafood.

I have listed the breads, muffins and desserts first because these are the things that people looking for gluten free recipes are usually missing out on.

The other sections listed above have a large selection of gluten free recipes. Be sure to visit any of those recipe categories to browse for other gluten free recipes you may be able to enjoy. (Use the navigation bar on the left side of the page to go wherever you want on the site.) Or use the search box provided to search the site for what you are looking for.

People who are gluten intolerant can usually eat sugar, so these recipes are not necessarily sugar free.
