Blueberry Sauce with a Hint of Cinnamon

This delicious blueberry sauce recipe is so easy to make.

This is a delightful fruit sauce recipe to top any number of desserts, from ice cream to cheesecake to shortcake, pound cake, angel food cake, yogurt and ice cream. Or how about blueberry sauce on your favorite pancakes or waffles?

Chicken and waffles with blueberry sauce? Wow, that would be delicious. I’m sure you’ll be able to think of many, many more foods you want to top with this delectable sauce.

You name it. If it’s sweet and plain, try adding this fresh fruit sauce to it.

It has just a touch of cinnamon added to it. The cinnamon really rounds out the flavor and adds just a hint of mysterious taste.

You can also leave it out if you are not a fan of the flavor.

Try this blueberry sauce over fresh blueberry or strawberry cake or our lemon pound cake.

Absolutely fabulous! And blueberries are extremely healthy for us. Add blueberries and other berries to the menu whenever you can.

Or how about this blueberry goodness over lemon pudding cake? Yummy!

The nice thing about this sauce recipe too is that, since it is pretty much as nice made with frozen blueberries as fresh, you can make it any time of year and bring that bit of longed for summer to the table.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Blend all the ingredients in a saucepan.
  • Bring them to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Great served warm over ice cream.

Variation:

  • If you think you would prefer a plainer sauce, simply omit the cinnamon. The cinnamon does add a nice flavor though so try it this way at least once.
